We are all deeply shocked by the war in Ukraine and the suffering of its citizens. Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing the war, while the situation of those left behind is becoming increasingly desperate. They are all reliant on our support. “Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine and we very much want to help them,” said Cornelius Riese and Uwe Fröhlich when the results for 2021 were presented. At the beginning of March, the cooperative financial network took the first step by donating €500,000 to the German Red Cross.

And there has been no let-up in the wish to donate. By the end of March 2022, the group entities and their employees had already donated more than €1.4 million to the German Red Cross. Employees of DZ BANK, for example, can use the donations page that DZ BANK has had set up on the charity’s website.

The drive for donations will continue in the weeks ahead. In addition to financial support, many employees in the cooperative financial network are helping people from Ukraine in other ways too. At DZ BANK, employees are sharing related advice and experience on the intranet, presenting various initiatives that they support, and thus providing guidance for other employees wishing to get involved.
